No Good Deed
A cartoon from four years ago seems prescient
I drew this cartoon on August 23, 2022 and unfortunately it’s finally coming to pass. Dr. Fauci, a lifelong public servant, who did his best during the Covid pandemic — which we knew nothing about at the time — is now being persecuted by Republican Monday morning quarterbacks in the Senate, led by Sen. Rand Paul, who want to literally throw him in jail. And let’s be honest, Fauci’s biggest crime was contradicting Trump, who was repeatedly saying idiotic things and making false claims about the pandemic to the public. The truth is the policies and protocols recommended by Dr. Fauci likely saved millions of lives, including the very outraged Republicans who embarrassed themselves in today’s Senate hearing, where they promised to try to hold him in contempt of Congress.
The sketch:

I don't know why this should surprise me; after all, they're still re-litigating the 2020 election, so why not throw in the Covid pandemic, while they're at it? Today's distraction features Rand Paul's personal vendetta against Fauci, a ludicrous attempt to vilify one of the heroes, who rescued us from the horrors of those well remembered days.
Sad how cartoons from that period can be easily recycled and still remain relevant.
