Graham Platner would fit right in with MAGA
Graham Platner, the tarnished, populist Maine Democrat nominee for the US Senate, has officially ended his campaign with a graceless video blaming the Democrat version of the Deep State, out to do him in. Who does that sound like? Did he think his past controversial online posts wouldn’t resurface? Did he think people wouldn’t question a Nazi tattoo? Did he actually think allegations of sexual assaults and inappropriate behavior toward women wouldn’t come out? Or maybe he thought, like with Trump and other MAGA candidates, we’d all just look the other way. After all, if he were a Trumper in today’s GOP, his transgressions would probably be considered resume-enhancers.

Sad but true: having Nazi tattoos and being accused of sexual assault are career-ending for Democrats; Republicans, on the other hand, don't seem to bat an eye at that and have even elected someone with those (dis)qualifications to the highest office in the land.

Good riddance. I feared that even if he got into the Senate he'd just be another John Fetterman.
